**Game Time**
* All Basketball games are approximately 55-minutes in length (including breaks). Please arrive early to ensure you get the full use of your allotted court time. Regardless of when your game begins your game will always end on time to allow the succeeding games to begin at their scheduled time.
* The referee will be keeping track of time and will determine the end of your game. In this instance, you will receive a warning indicating the final five (5) minutes of your game and a final signal for the end of your game. Once the final signal occurs your game is over, please begin to leave immediately.
* Quarters: There is only a 30-second stoppage between quarters. Home & Away teams will be listed on the schedule. Each game will start with a jump ball.
* Changing Sides: At the end of each half, teams will change sides.
* Time Outs: Teams may call a one (1) minute time-out per half except in the final 10 minutes of play.
**Players**
* Teams are made up of five (5) players on the court at a time. A default will occur if any team cannot field a squad by 10 minutes after the official start time.
* Exceptions: Both teams can agree to play with any number of people on the court up to five (5) players. If both teams agree then the game counts.
**Equipment/Set Up**
Team captains are responsible for bringing a regulation-sized basketball for each game.
**Uniforms**
Players should wear comfortable athletic clothing and indoor gym/basketball shoes. We will provide each team with a jersey for each player. Please wear these to distinguish your teammates. Jerseys are mandatory, Technicals will be given out during the first two games. A player without a jersey after the first two league games will not be allowed to play. Exceptions are given when sizes are unavailable or at the convenor’s discretion.

**General Rules**
General FIBA Basketball rules apply with the following modifications/exceptions:
● Games will begin with a jump ball
● Players may substitute on dead balls, timeouts, or end-of-the-quarter
● When the ball is 'tied up', and a jump ball call is made, the team who started the game without the ball will be awarded possession of the ball (regardless of who was on offence or defence). For any subsequent "jump balls", possession will alternate between teams (the next jump ball will go to the team who started with the ball) and continue to switch.
● All standard basketball infractions are enforced (e.g. reaching-in, body contact of any kind, charging, landing zone (shooting two), intentional fouls (a play on the ball must be made, or two shots and possession will be awarded, technicals are awarded 1 free-throw etc.). Remember that games are timed, so it is not worth wasting time arguing over calls.
● The foul shooter has a maximum of 10 seconds to take the shot - do not delay the game by taking an unnecessary amount of time.
● Intentional fouls are not permitted regardless of the score - (a play on the ball must be made, or two shots and possession will be awarded).
● The “No charge zone” will be used any time the court provides it.
● Games can be tied during the regular season.
● There must be a winner in a playoff match. In the event that the match ends in a tie, teams will partake in a two-minute overtime period.
**Rough Play & Misconduct**
Any rough play or misconduct toward staff and officials will result in an immediate 1-game suspension from the league play and may result in a lifetime league expulsion. It is recognized that incidental contact between players is inevitable; however, all players should go out of their way to avoid creating an unsafe play. This rule supersedes all others. Arguing with the referee will result in a technical and possible ejection.
● 2 personal technicals = player ejection
● 3 personal technicals = team/game disqualification
